Our Building Process
Every one of our homes focuses on a personal, and naturally logical process to create the home you have always dreamed of. We truly want to create the perfect match between you and your dream home. We do this by following our thorough approach to building:
Getting the big picture
Before we do anything we sit down with you and get to know you better. We ask the right questions about your lifestyles, your hobbies, your family, and your wants and needs in your new home. We talk with you about your budget and how we can meet your expectations and begin drawing up plans. We look at our lot inventory and determine which lot is best suited for you. Once the lot is chosen we verify the placement of the house, we finalize the plans and present the contract in an easy to read format.
Before we dig
We consult with you prior to the excavation to make sure the house is positioned exactly where you envisioned it. We discuss the tree lines, grade elevations and drainage. You will also have a better idea of “the big picture”.
Selecting your style
This is the fun part. We invite you to visit our best-in-the business showrooms to select your exterior colors, stone, flooring, countertops, appliances, lighting, plumbing fixtures and paint colors. We don’t leave anything to chance. You will receive a timeline schedule of when your selections are to be made. Your selections are carefully choreographed with the construction sequence of the house.
Building the framework
This is the skeleton of your house. Windows and fireplaces are placed at this time and any other necessary structural elements of the house. This phase takes about 5 weeks.
Electrical and cabinetry walkthrough
During this phase, airconditioning, heating, ventilation, plumbing and electrical wiring are incorporated into your home. If you are including any security systems, central vacuum or prewiring for your stereo and entertainment centers, rough-in wiring takes place at this point. We like to walk through the house with you at this point to make sure the options you have selected are in place, and that you are satisfied with the lighting fixtures and switch/outlet placement.
Finishing and trimming
You begin to recognize all of the selections you made earlier. Cabinetry and millwork are installed. Flooring is laid, and painting and staining are not far behind. We think this is a great time to get together at the house to discuss closet shelving , layout and any special millwork design. Now your home is starting to really take shape!
Final walkthrough
We wait until the final week to lay the carpet, put a final coat on the wood floors, and install any audio visual equipment. We also make any minor adjustments, add screens, repair any drywall and paint nicks. We clean the house and windows thoroughly, and make final last-minute preparations for your move in. We take the time to walk through your new home with you demonstrating how everything works and get your final stamp of approval. We close the house and hand over your shiny new key!
This is our last scheduled visit before closing. We walk though the house thoroughly and eagerly await your approval. We also take this time to introduce you to the many facets of your new home. We also discuss the 1 year, 2 year, and 10 year warranty program. Any last minute items that you want repaired will be completed at this time.
Closing your new home
We provide nothing but a professional, hassle-free closing. We present you with a copy of all the subcontractors that have created your home, as well as a listing of the paint colors and materials you have selected for your home.
